Restored and Customized Marlin Ballard Rifle in .22, Possibly by John Oberlies
.22LR. 25.5" octagonal barrel. SN: 8257. Blued and color casehardened finish, smooth straight grip stock with crescent butt and semi-Schnabel forend. Single shot dropping block target rifle with tang mounted adjustable peep sight and folding blade and globe dovetailed front sight. Standard JM Marlin receiver markings. Although unmarked as to the gunsmith who restored and restocked this rifle, the style suggests it was likely done by John Oberlies of Dayton, OH. A really lovely single shot .22 that would {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Very fine as restored. Fine bright bore with crisp rifling. Metal with nearly all of the restored finish intact. Mechanically functional action. Crisp wood with lightly scattered handling marks.
